Clinical Dashboards & Patient App
Overview
Antara Health is a primary care startup operating in Kenya. When I joined as the founding designer, there was no product — just a clinical model and a small team. The challenge was to design tools that worked for both patients seeking care and clinicians managing caseloads in a low-resource environment.
The product had to be simple enough for patients with limited digital literacy, and structured enough for clinicians tracking dozens of cases at once.
What I Did
- Led all design from 0 to 1 — discovery, information architecture, interaction design, and handoff
- Designed a patient-facing mobile app for appointment booking, follow-ups, and health records
- Built a clinical dashboard for care coordinators to track patient queues, flag at-risk cases, and log interventions
- Ran user interviews with patients and clinicians in Nairobi to validate and iterate on flows
- Established a lightweight design system to keep the product consistent as the team grew
Outcome
The product launched and was used by clinical staff across multiple sites in Kenya. The dashboard reduced coordination overhead for care teams and helped surface high-risk patients faster. The patient app achieved strong retention in a demographic that typically drops off from digital health tools.
